Glasses? Check. Braces? Check. Love of video games and Star Wars? Check. There’s no hiding the fact that Pete was a nerd. He was also too skinny, weighing in at 130lbs at 5’11”. Maybe he would be in style at a high school now, but in 2004? DORK! But he didn’t mind. He was happy with who he was. Pete would pull all nighters playing MMOs such as Star Wars Galaxies and World of Warcraft, microwave pizza and soda at the ready. Him and his friends would bike across town, Xbox in one backpack and a small TV in another. Why you ask? Because other kids from high school thought they were better than them at Halo (still undefeated!). However, if there was one thing that he enjoyed playing more than video games, it was sports. Sure it looks like he’d break in half if you tackled him, but Pete was always down for some football. Baseball? Home runs all day. Soccer? Why not. Basketball? BEAST!
Fast forward to 2010 and all he has time for is work, school and video games. Sure, he goes to the gym at school and lifts some heavy objects, but Pete doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing. He doesn’t stretch, eat properly or work out properly and therefore sees no results. Pete’s performance on the basketball court pales in comparison to his younger self as he is unable to keep up with the pace of a full court game. His stubbornness gets the best of him and he continues this routine thinking that results will come eventually. Pete doesn’t know what else to do and there is no one there to guide him.
Until in 2012, he came across a lone wolf. A Dire Wolf you might say. But aren’t those extinct? The answer is yes! But DireWolf is a person, the same one who got Pete on the right track to a healthier lifestyle. His first workout program? Brazilian Butt Lift. Though you may chuckle, the one month program was no laughing matter as it required him to work harder than anything he had done before and served as a precursor to future programs.
It is now 2013 and Pete has P90x, Insanity and even a Tough Mudder under his belt, along with a lifted butt. And he isn’t looking to stop there as he has Les Mills Combat to look forward to and hopes of joining his Rise comrades in some of the upcoming events this year. Whether it’s a Comic-Con or a Spartan Race, it’ll be the same group of nerds loving what they do.
